Walkers will already be well-acquainted with the Frome Valley Walkway that runs to the rear of the site. With nearby access to this and many miles of open the countryside along ancient bridle paths.

Winterbourne is mentioned in the Domesday Book as Wintreborne, which loosely translates as Winter Stream. For today’s resident Winterbourne, which is about a mile from Damsons Court, provides just about everything village life should; a vet, a butcher, post office and village shop, Daisy’s Café, a local primary and secondary school, thriving village hall, two great pubs serving excellent food, two Indian restaurants, sports grounds and a number of local Churches. When Christmas comes around you’ll be able to pick up a real Christmas tree from the local tree farm just down the road.

To the envy of many a local village, Winterbourne still has a large village pond. Today this is a favourite spot for fishing and feeding the ducks and swans, but not so many years ago the pond served as a waggon washing facility for local farmers and tradespeople, you can still see the ramp that runs into the pond where they backed their waggons in to wash off the toil of the day.
